* Organizing and supervising mechanical and welding interventions in the framework of planned and unplanned maintenance programmes of CERN accelerators and detectors.
* Drafting and following-up of welding procedure specifications and qualifications according to applicable international fabrication standards.
* Designing and carrying out of theoretical and practical training of welders.
* Technical supervision of teams of welders in the underground areas for the LHC's long shut down activities, defining and carrying out the quality inspections for welded assemblies.
* Taking the responsibility for the technical coordination of specific workshop jobs.
* Advising users on mechanical and welding issues.
* Preparing written technical reports.

Technical engineer diploma or equivalent qualification in mechanics and an international welding qualification at the level of International Welding Technologist (IWT) or higher.

Experience and competencies

* Five to ten years' experience in metal forming and assembly techniques.
* Direct working experience in mechanical workshops, preferably with experience in managing a team of welders and mechanics.

* Welding and implementation of international standards related to welded assemblies.
* Knowledge of metallic materials properties, heat and surface treatments.
* Knowledge of technical drawings and ISO tolerancing (dimensional and geometrical product specification standards).
* Definition of manufacturing methods, choice of process, work organization.
* Quality management: Knowledge of Quality Control procedures.
* Knowledge of safety requirements linked to the assembly and sheet metal forming techniques.
