Deusto Institute of Technology (DeustoTech), located in Bilbao (Spain), is a Research Technology Organization linked to the University of Deusto (UD) through the Faculty of Engineering, and was created with the mission of generating and transferring knowledge to the social and business fabric, and support the Faculty through research, development and innovation in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT), and in accordance with the ethical and humanistic principles that define the UD. Offer summary -The offer is aimed at graduates in Computer Science, Sciences (Math or Physics), Telecommunication Engineering or similar. Strong computing/programming skills are a must. -The offer is negotiable based on the candidate skills and expertise. The offer would have a duration of 3,5 years. It requires annual renewal. Renewal is contingent on achieving the research objectives established at the beginning of each year.
The candidate should have demonstrated experience of more than two years in the development of back-end infrastructure using web frameworks, e.g. Python Django. The candidate should master both web API and backend (MVC frameworks & databases) development and web front-ends based on HTML5 (acquaintance with AngularJS and/or ReactJS are also highly advisable) for the consumption of the underlying logic. Besides, the candidate has to domain Big Data tool stacks (Apache Hadoop) and middleware solutions like FIWARE (optional but highly advisable). The role of the candidate will be to take part in two European projects. In the first one, the candidate will help in the configuration of a Big Data experiment deployment environment based on Hortonworks. The candidate must domain new emerging DevOps and Big Data orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, respectively. Previous experience on the use of those tools over widely established Cloud Computing environments, namely Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud is also highly commendable. In the second European project the candidate will work on the provision of RESTful APIs and the integration of the underlying logic with FIWARE infrastructure, more concretely the Context Broker. Besides, the candidate will have to create web interfaces to access to the functionality supplied through RESTful APIs. The candidate could work for a PhD degree in the areas of Big Data experimentation and food waste management through Blockchain and Internet technologies. General requirements -Advanced command of English (C1 or equivalent) is desired. Knowledge of Spanish is not a requirement. High level of written and spoken English. -Availability to travel around the EU. It will de valued: -PhD degree. -Scientific and/or technical publications and communications in national and international conferences. -Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and communication skills. -Availability for change, flexibility and versatility.
