Engineering Manager (Team Lead) Barcelona

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to head up and be part of a new team in Barcelona. This is your opportunity to make your mark and shape the beginning for our new development site.

You will be a crucial resource in building up this new site. The team will consist of six Software Engineers, one Test Engineer and yourself. Your first task will be to identify and hire great talents. Once the team is in place its first task is to ensure a successful knowledge transfer of the existing core integration components and for this you will work closely with our Danish teams. During 2019-2020 timeframe the team will be responsible for developing the new strategic business area of IoT integrations.

We are developing high quality software, using an agile development process. As a lead you will be responsible for ensuring the team performance, wellness and ability to deliver on the backlog prioritized by the Product Owners.

The role

As an Engineering Manager you are responsible for your team, including onboarding, offboarding, salary reviews, etc. You will refer to Peter Jacobsen, Director of Engineering who is located in Denmark. You will be a part on an international management team of eight mangers covering Sofia, Copenhagen and Barcelona.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Ensure that corporate strategy is understood and executed in team.
• Define strategic goals of the team.
• Attract and recruit new talents and ensure good onboarding for new hires.
• Ensure and improve the job satisfaction and well-being and care about growing the professional competencies of you team.
• Ensure low attrition for current talents.
• Provide regular feedback and coaching to team members.
• Evaluate and improve individual performance of team members and overall performance for the team.
• Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of results and problem solving.
• 10-20 annual travelling days can be expected.

An experienced technical leader

We expect you to have a B.Sc. in Software Engineering or Computer Science and preferably a M.Sc. You have at least 5 years’ experience with leading technical teams, and you are fluent in written and spoken English. Furthermore, we expect to you have experience with:

• Working professionally with Scrum or another agile development method.
• Experience working with complex IT systems.
• Preferably, you have previous experience being part of starting up a new team or being part of a start-up.
• Preferably, you have been working in an international company and have experience with cross site collaboration.
