Funciones

Duties:

As a member of the "Nuclear & Particle Physics" group, you will join a team of 4 technicians whose role is to provide technical support for both the Institute’s in-house scientists and its outside users. You will have the following duties:
 
•	Machining, turning and milling of (metal, ceramic and plastic) precision mechanical parts using conventional machine tools for the production or modification of mechanical assemblies needed for the scientific instruments.
•	Assembling, installing and improving precision mechanical assemblies in the workshop and on site.
•	Performing the regular maintenance of mechanical systems, in liaison with different specialists.
•	Assuring the availability of equipment such that experiments can be carried out successfully. 

Requisitos

Qualifications and experience:

•	As a minimum requirement: NVQ level 2 or 3 in mechanical engineering (machining), or an equivalent qualification.
•	Some initial experience of manufacturing and assembling precision mechanics.
•	You have worked on prototyping or on parts for scientific instruments. 
•	You are a team player and know how to provide quality service to customers. 
•	CAD skills would be an advantage.

Language skills:
As an international research centre, we are particularly keen to ensure that we also attract applicants from outside France. You must have a sound understanding of spoken English and be willing to learn French (a language course will be paid for by the ILL). Knowledge of German would be an advantage.
