Serves the public by accepting applications and answering basic procedural questions regarding passport applications, notarials, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA) and other consular services. Assists victims of crime in receiving funds from relatives. Reviews passports and CRBA applications for accuracy and completeness, performs data entry, scans documents and prints emergency passports. Processes simple notarials. Answers general telephone inquiries and performs other duties as required. Provides coverage to Special Consular Services (SCS) unit as necessary.
Qualifications and Evaluations:
Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.
Education: High School Diploma.
Experience: Six months customer service experience required.
Job Knowledge: Must know Windows, Outlook, and how to conduct Internet searches. Will learn computer systems on the job.
Language: Level 3 (good working knowledge) of English speaking/reading/writing. Level 3 of Spanish (good working knowledge) speaking/reading/writing. This may be tested.
Skills and abilities: Ability to organize and set priorities. Accuracy in data entry. This may be tested. Must have initiative and the ability to work under pressure within the framework of a team. Must have the ability to deal with the public, especially with victims of crime who arrive at the Consular Section in various states of distress and anger. Must be able to learn new computer programs and operate specialized equipment.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
