IE Learning Innovation is formed by 2 teams: Pedagogy Innovation (with Instructional Designers / Project Managers) and Tech Lab (with Resident Hackers). We work jointly on the mission of significantly improving learning and teaching at IE through technology. Our work is almost exclusively project based, tends to be fast paced, sometimes a bit hectic, but never boring. We are looking for an experienced project manager to kickstart and run a learning solutions architecture project for whole of IE. This high profile project involves needs collection, evaluation of possible tools, organization and running of a pilot, as well as leading a cross-departmental team to coordinate with 3 pilots of other learning solutions and to propose an overarching institution-wide learning solutions architecture. The manager will work hand in hand with a counterpart in the IT team who will be responsible for all tech implementation (evaluation from tech perspective, selection and management of vendors for development, integrations with all systems, etc.). Key Action Areas: • Knows how to carry out an empathetic enquiry to discover the real needs of our students, professors and staff (ideally with experience in design tools). • Can run a project through their sleep and with enough emotional intelligence to make everyone get on board. • Is education-friendly (or more!) and ideally not too scared of technology (can learn fast). • With enough perspective to design a strategy. • We expect the project to require a full time commitment for up to 3 years, at which point the manager would be able to continue with the Learning Innovation department either as part of the Pedagogy Innovation team or the Tech Lab team managing projects run from the department and participating in the ongoing activities of the department.
• Fluent English and Spanish (in speech and writing). • Master’s degree from a top University. • Ideally, some experience with design tools, pedagogy / instructional design and / or learning technologies. • Able to influence those in a position of power. • Able to think critically and in a structured way. • Able to think strategically and run complex projects with relatively little oversight. • Generally open minded and nice to be around. • Creative – especially in the hacking, problem solving way. • Ideally, interested in pedagogy and ed techs (awesome if you have some familiarity with the current LMSs and / or open source solutions).
