We are looking to recruit "Student Support Assistants" to work in Special Education. Successful applicants will help children and young people with learning difficulties, who need support, working with them in the classroom so that they can make the most of their education; and outside the classroom environment, helping students achieve the highest degree of independence possible. Successfull candidates will support teachers in creating the best classroom environment to facilitate learning. These children and young people may experience learning difficulties for various reasons: disability, cognitive problems, health problems, family circumstances, or social, emotional and behavioral factors. Classroom • Assist students with school activities under the supervision of teachers • Prepare educational materials (photocopying, lamination, classroom demonstration assistance and preparation of teaching materials) • Assist with therapy programs to encourage students to get the most out of their educational curriculum • Guide students to do the work defined by the teacher (you may have to do this activity alone or in conjunction with other classmates) • Assist in maintaining teaching materials and equipment in classrooms • Support teachers / tutors in maintaining good student progress records Personal Support: • Help implement all aspects of individual care plans, including medication administration. • Encourage students to do as much as they can for themselves by guiding them and showing them what to do when needed. • Helping students in all aspects of daily life, including personal hygiene and personal care (dressing, combing, shaving, bathing, etc.) • Help students with their nutritional and dietary needs
Requirements: • We value those who have experience working with children, who have a background in education or candidates who have worked with people with disabilities or cognitive difficulties. • The ability to work under pressure in difficult circumstances • The ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team • Ability to identify and undertake any training necessary for the development of your activity and providing career progression. • Good sense of humor • Calm and temperance • Flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends • A natural respect for the dignity and individuality of the human being • Fluent English • Authorized to work in the UK
